Claudia C. Swanson has lived in the Richmond, Virginia area since 1981. She has lived in Powhatan since 1994. She has many years of experience in the horticulture trade, both as a grower and a retailer. She has a strong background in environmental education, which she applies to her business. She has served as a certified Nature Quest leader with the National Wildlife Federation, a facilitator for the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, for Project Wild, Project Wet, and Project Learning Tree. She has served as a Waste Watcher for Chesterfield County and has been a Master Gardener since 1993. She is a Virginia Certified Horticulturist, and has written for several publications. Claudia has achieved Reiki Mastership and hopes to help others facilitate gardening as an art of healing, not angst. She has a no-nonsense approach to gardening and encourages environmentally sound practices, believing we are all stewards of this planet. Currently, she owns and operates Dirty Hands Garden Center.
